This past year taught and reminded me of a lot.
I lost connections I thought would last much longer. That hurt more than expected.
But it also reminded me of an important lesson.
Some people only know how to love the version of you that stays quiet and easy to keep around.
And as painful as that is, maybe that is protection.
Say the thing.
This year taught me that timing really does change things. Sometimes people return differently and so do you. And that opening your heart after disappointment can surprise you.
It reminded me that there is a balance between spontaneity and spiraling. Between trusting your gut and giving yourself a minute to breathe before making a move. It’s a fine line.
It taught me that motherhood doesn’t get easier. It gets deeper, bigger, more honest. Trying to remember who you were, while becoming someone new in front of your child. Saying sorry often and lots of understanding. To be open about your growth and struggles. To keep showing up.
It taught me that creating something and putting it into the world is terrifying, exhausting, vulnerable, and somehow still worth it.
And maybe the biggest lesson
There doesn’t always have to be a villain for something to not be right.
Sometimes walking away is the clarity.
Sometimes peace is the answer.
Sometimes losing the place you thought you belonged is how you find yourself again.
So here’s to 43.
Still learning. Still growing.
