Landscapes By Design – Columbus, LLC, was an idea Eli Cieplinski conceived a number of years ago. Eli earned his degree in Landscape Architecture with a minor in horticulture from the top-ranked nationwide program at the Ohio State University. His vision was to create a landscape business that would offer something different from the other companies. In 2009, during the economic collapse, Eli was

laid off after eight years as a manager at a retail store. It was then that he began to work on making his dream a reality. Taking the design and implementation experience with him from those formidable years in the retail world, he put into place the dreams and images of clients for their respective properties. With his family’s minivan, push-mower, educational and professional background, Eli began Landscapes By Design – Columbus, LLC.

“My first customers took a chance with me; I was an unknown entity,“ reflects Cieplinski. Despite that, Eli’s phone rang throughout his first summer, as he was successful in delivering excellence and quality service. He listened to his customers, asked for their input and then put it together in a way that worked. Landscapes By Design sprouted a blooming reputation! Landscapes By Design’s customer base has grown by word of mouth. Eli says, “My company is not like other landscape companies. It’s not just another job for me. If I’m designing, it’s more than creating something pretty to look at. To me, it’s about creating a space for my clients that feels inviting and peaceful to them. If it’s a yard that needs to be cleaned up, trimmed, scaled back, or enhanced, it’s about creating an environment. Even when it comes to cutting grass, it’s not simply running a lawn mower through the yard, but about respecting my client’s property and having them arrive home to a neat, tidy and inviting yard.”

Working with people based upon their individual budget, and developing a plan after carefully learning about their goals and vision, Landscapes By Design offers a more personal service. Owner Eli Cieplinski treats his plants as thoughtfully and as gently as he does his clients. He is creative, individualized and has a passion for what he does.
