What a day at CRLC Supply Chain Evolution yesterday!

Thank you to the Columbus Region Logistics Council and the Columbus Chamber of Commerce for bringing together so many leaders across logistics, manufacturing, transportation, and distribution. The EXXCEL team had a great time exhibiting, catching up with familiar faces, and meeting new ones at our table.

The conversations this year were all about what’s next for the Columbus Region. As a design-build partner for industrial and distribution facilities, we love hearing firsthand what’s driving the decisions our clients make.

Not every building has one temperature zone. This one had five.

When Domino's needed a dough production and distribution facility outside Detroit, the project came with a challenge most contractors avoid: five distinct temperature zones under one roof- a -10°F storage freezer, a 35°F cooler, 35°F dough production, 60°F dough mixing, and tray washing- all running through a single integrated DDC control system and built during the Michigan winter.

Cold storage isn't just refrigeration. It's coordinating mechanical, controls, and construction sequencing so five different climates work as one building instead of five separate problems.

A lot of our work comes from repeat clients. In an industry built on one-off bids, that number says more about trust than any proposal could.

Trust in construction isn't given upfront. It's built project by project and decision by decision. The first job is where a client finds out if we do what we say. The second job is where they stop needing to check. That's the real value of a long-term contractor relationship: less time spent managing us, more time spent running your business.

We don't measure success by how many new clients we win. We measure it by how many stop looking for someone else.

We’re proud to share that EXXCEL Project Management has been named an honoree for Excellence in General Contracting for the 2026 Building Columbus Awards by Columbus Business First for our work on the ODW Logistics project in Lockbourne, Ohio!

The ODW project is a great example of what can happen when strong partnerships, thoughtful planning, and experienced project management come together. Delivering a large-scale logistics facility takes more than construction. It takes collaboration, problem-solving, and a team committed to keeping the project moving forward.

We’re grateful to ODW Logistics for trusting EXXCEL with such an important project and to our entire team and project partners who helped bring it to life. Being recognized among the companies and projects helping shape the future of Central Ohio is an honor and one we’re proud to share with everyone who played a role.

Congratulations to all of the 2026 Building Columbus honorees!

Project Highlight: Comprehensive Logistics

EXXCEL was selected by Comprehensive Logistics, an Ohio-based company managing just-in-time automotive parts delivery and sub-manufacturing services for automakers, to provide design-build construction services for their new distribution center.

The challenge? This was a brownfield site deemed unsuitable for construction by the EPA. An existing basement had never been properly backfilled, leading to water infiltration and contaminated soils, and existing utilities required a full redesign for either re-use or abandonment.

This didn't scare us. It pushed us to problem-solve as our team tackled every obstacle head-on. This project is a great example of what EXXCEL does best: turning complex site conditions into repeatable success for our clients.

A great site isn't just about location; it's about what's underneath, around, and above it. Our preconstruction process digs into the details most people never think to ask about, so there are fewer surprises once construction begins.

Looking to expand in 2027? Contact our team today to discuss the next steps.

Manufacturing and logistics facilities are being asked to do more than ever; faster fulfillment, tighter labor markets, and higher automation demands are reshaping what an industrial building needs to be. Design-build teams that understand these shifts early are the ones helping clients stay ahead of them.

This view really captures the scale of what's happening over at our current project in Lockbourne, OH! Wall panels and steel are continuing to go into place, and the site is moving right along.

Looking forward to continuing to watch this building take shape!
