New Avenue Architects and Engineers is an Architecture and Engineering firm located in Upper Arlington, Ohio, specializing in architecture and engineering services for commercial and residential design projects. We founded the company in January 2010 by merging M2 Design Group, a structural engineering and building design company located in Worthington, and New Avenue Architects, an architecture f

irm in Dublin. After our two firms successfully worked together on multiple joint projects, we established New Avenue Architects and Engineers to bring together our combined architecture and engineering services to create an integrated and harmonious approach to the design process for our clients. We carry professional Architecture and Engineering licenses in Ohio and multiple other states across the country. We also carry National Certified Building Designer certifications, are Certified Green Professionals, and are accredited Verifiers for the NAHB National Green Building Standard program.

We understood the assignment at Arcadia Hills | Hocking Hills Luxury Cabins: when you come to Hocking Hills, you want to feel connected to the outdoors. 🌲

We had the opportunity to design multiple vacation homes throughout the Arcadia Hills property, each created to make the most of the setting.

In this home, that meant bringing natural light in from every angle, including overhead.

The glass-filled stairwell and skylights bring daylight through the center of the home and offer another way to experience those beautiful skies from inside.

Because when the setting is this good, the architecture should make the most of it.

The back of this home is all about the view. The front is all about the arrival.

When we shared the rear elevation of this Central Ohio home, we talked about maximizing the golf course views and creating a strong connection to the outdoors.

Around front, the priorities shift. The tall entry draws you in, expansive windows bring light into the home, and the mix of warm and modern materials gives the exterior plenty of character.

It’s a good example of how every side of a custom home can respond differently to the site and the way the homeowners will experience it.

When the homeowner sends you progress updates… and suddenly it’s all coming together.

We’ve watched this custom home go from plans on a screen to framing, drywall, finishes, and now, the home stretch.

At this stage, so many of the decisions made early in the design process start showing up all at once. The rooms take shape, the exterior comes together, and you can finally see how the whole home is going to feel.

This is the home with the hidden Christmas tree closet, so don’t miss the last photo.

One house. Five completely different rooms. 📷

Light is a material, and we treat it like one.

At this Plain City Modern Farmhouse, color was used to shape the mood as you move through the home. Bright whites keep some spaces feeling open and airy. Darker tones create warmth and intimacy in rooms where you want the walls to come in a little closer. Soft off-whites bring a quieter, more relaxed feeling to the private spaces.

Same house. Same natural light. An entirely different feeling in each room, shaped by the way color, materials, and light work together.

Fresh renderings for a residence we’re designing in Alabama. 🏡

At nearly 9,800 square feet with six bedrooms, this home has plenty of room to work well for the way this family lives and welcomes guests.

Most people have no idea what actually happens between “we want to build” and a house. 🏗️

This is a custom residence in the Columbus area, shown at two different stages we share with every client: the preliminary drawing, where the bones of the design get worked out, and the rendering, where you start to see what it will actually look and feel like.

Both matter. The schematic is where the decisions get made. The rendering is where the client falls in love. . .

Can we all agree natural light makes every room better?

The truth is, natural light doesn’t happen by accident.

Window placement, home orientation, and sightlines are all considered long before construction begins. Those early design decisions are what allow spaces like this primary bathroom to feel bright, open, and connected to the outdoors.

It’s one of our favorite parts of designing custom homes…creating spaces that homeowners enjoy every single day.
