Fire Blight (Erwinia amylovora)!

This bacterial disease can spread quickly through a tree and to neighboring trees if it's not caught early. Pruning out infected branches the right way (and at the right time) is key to stopping it.

Root rot often starts below the surface, making it easy to miss until your tree begins showing signs of stress. Keep an eye out for these common warning signs:

- Yellowing or wilting leaves during the growing season
- Branch dieback or thinning canopy
- Soft, decaying, or discolored roots if exposed
- Mushrooms or fungal growth around the base of the tree
- A tree that leans unexpectedly or feels unstable

On August 5th from 7-8:30 p.m., our team will be hosting the Tremendous Trees program, where families can discover more about the trees around us through hands-on activities, games, crafts, and fun history lessons.

Participants will also have the chance to experience trees from a whole new perspective with a treetop climb guided by professional arborists. We can’t wait to share our love of trees with the community!

Not every insect you spot on your trees is cause for concern, but some can signal bigger problems if left unchecked.

As summer continues, keep an eye out for common July and August tree pests in Ohio, including:
🌳 Bagworms
🌳 Spongy moth
🌳 Japanese beetles
🌳 Spider mites
🌳 Two-lined chestnut borer
🌳 Emerald ash borers
🌳 Scale insects
