These 44"-46" × 10" thick rounds of Pin Oak weighed about 350lbs each when they were harvested in 2019. They've been seasoning in my back yard for almost 4 years. I've been patiently waiting, working around them, checking them every 2 weeks, keeping the dog away from them, dyin tryin not to cut into them too early.
Today I started shaping them to their final form to season for summer. This fall I will finish them in a kiln. I'm crafting 8 solid end grain butcher blocks. Each one will be approximately
15"D × 23"L × 4" height.
