I know this is long....
With the upcoming freezing weather coming our way, there are a few things you can do to help. We will be freezing for 24+ hours as forecasted right now. There could potentially be damage to the plumbing in your home, so all we can do is our due diligence to protect ourselves from the freeze. However, if itβs going to freeze, itβs going to freeze. Please stay safe and check and help our neighbors, especially the elderly.
We donβt know if we will lose power or not, but all we can do is our best to prepare.
Please know we will be here after to support you and get any damages taken care of as soon as we can. Please remember we cannot fix frozen pipes. If you have any issues, which we pray all will be good, please call the office and leave a message with name, number and address. Also, please be patient as we will get to everyone, and everyone is important! We will start scheduling as soon as it is safe to travel the roads. As of right now, we will be closed on Monday. However, if the weather changes, we will be in the office. Please check for updates on our operating hours for Monday via Facebook.
You can choose to drip your water or cut your water off & drain your line the best as you can, as you cannot get it all out. There is not guarantee either way. However, there are a few things you can do around your home to help prevent it.
- Wrap all outside exposed pipe.
- Disconnect all water hoses and drip hose bibbs. Even if you are going to wrap your hose bibbs, please disconnect the water hose.
- Drip BOTH hot and cold on faucets.
- IF you have a tankless heater, you need to run the hot water a little more to keep that heater engaged if it is outside.
- Open cabinet doors under sinks so the plumbing underneath can be exposed to the heat from your home.
- If pipping in the attic, open your attic door to allow heat into the attic to help keep temp above freezing as much as possible. Also, if you have side vents to your attic cover them with plastic.
- Wrap your pipes in well house and put in a heat lamp or heater. If your well house has no door hang plastic to help keep heat in.
- If you have a vacant rent or farmhouse, turn water off water and drain lines- remember you cannot get all water out, but if there is going to be damages at least the water will not flood the house.
- Fill your bathtubs with water, so if we do lose power or decide to turn your water off to your home, you can flush your toilets.
Please stay safe and warm!
