Spring in Dublin, Upper Arlington, Grandview Heights, and throughout Central Ohio always feels a little more magical when tulips begin to bloom. There is something timeless about rows of soft blush pinks, crisp whites, and rich lavenders rising from the garden beds just as the season begins to wake.

The beauty of tulips, however, begins long before spring arrives.

Tulip bulbs are best planted in the fall, usually from late October through November, when the soil has cooled and the air carries that first true hint of autumn. They thrive in well-drained soil with generous sunlight, and the difference between a simple planting and a truly breathtaking display comes down to thoughtful planning.

Depth matters. Spacing matters. Variety matters. The way colors unfold against your home, your hardscaping, and the surrounding landscape matters most of all.

Bulbs should be planted six to eight inches deep in rich, healthy soil where water drains easily and roots can settle before winter. Once planted, a good watering allows nature to take over, and by spring, the reward is a garden that feels both effortless and extraordinary.

At Landfare Ltd., seasonal plantings are approached with the same care as every custom landscape we design. Tulips are layered for fullness, selected for elegance, and placed with intention so the final result feels refined rather than routine. It is not simply about flowers blooming, but about creating the kind of spring garden that feels as though it has always belonged there.

Luxury landscapes are never accidental. They are designed.

And when spring arrives, they speak for themselves. Learn more:

In Upper Arlington, Dublin, and Grandview, there’s a brief moment each spring when the entire neighborhood seems to pause.

Vibrant tulips in shades of yellow, orange, and red rise all at once. Bright, intentional, and impossible to miss. It’s a short season, but one that people come to expect year after year.

These aren’t random plantings. They’re planned, layered, and maintained with care—an investment not just in color, but in how a home presents itself each spring.

In neighborhoods where details matter, even a few weeks of bloom can set the tone.

Do you look forward to tulip season in your neighborhood, or is there another spring detail you notice first? Share in the comments.

After a long Ohio winter, few sights rival the first bold tulips of spring.

Vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows are beginning to emerge across Upper Arlington, Dublin, and Grandview—proof that exceptional gardens are not created in spring alone, but cared for season after season.

Behind every beautiful landscape is thoughtful maintenance: proper pruning, fertilization, bed care, seasonal rotations, and the kind of horticultural stewardship that keeps a property looking composed long after the first bloom.

How important is professional garden maintenance to you—do you prefer a landscape that evolves beautifully each season, or one that simply gets cut back?

In Upper Arlington, Dublin, and Powell, the transition from warm afternoons to cool evenings is where a "spool" truly stands apart.

The scale of a pool, the comfort of a hot tub—heated into the 90s when the air turns crisp. It allows the space to be used not just in July, but in early spring and well into fall.

Details matter just as much as temperature. Even the skimmer—often overlooked—is fully encapsulated in concrete and reinforced with steel, then finished with tile and concealed beneath matching stone so it disappears into the deck. Nothing distracts from the composition.

This is where engineering meets experience.

Just a few years ago on a corner in Upper Arlington, a vacant lot and side yard sat adjacent to an old world style house built in 2004. The homeowners sought to build a second garage and new patio space to enjoy with family. Other seasonal installations include:
Spring: Tulips, daffodils, pansies

2026 Hardscape Trend
Landscaping that looks like it belongs to the land.

When done well, the result feels less like a backyard renovation and more like a private retreat discovered over time. Projects in Upper Arlington demonstrate how hot tubs and fountains can be shaped by the land itself, creating spaces that feel grounded and calm rather than imposed.

This patio, below, looks over a meadow and the river. It feels like it was built into the landscape with curves and natural stone.

At the Yorkshire Road residence in Upper Arlington, a stone Tudor Revival home with subtle French Country influence sets a disciplined tone. Steeply pitched gables, asymmetrical rooflines, multi-pane windows, and a substantial chimney lend the house a collected, Old World presence.
