A piece finished a few weeks back- and adorable fox friend hiding in a meadow✨
Ive had this photo of this fox rooting around a dry grassy meadow in my phone for years hoping that one day id make a painting of him. And finally he is here🖤
Goauche, acrylic, and mineral paint on handmade cotton paper~

Another piece that took a few days to finish. Sometimes when starting a new painting, my under-painting is so intimidating the partially started piece ends up sitting in my "finish when im less scared" pile on top of my printer😅 im sure other artists relate. Do you also have a box labeled "things i dont want to finish right now" ? Because i do😂 Honestly having that box full of partially started pieces really helps when im in a creative block. I go to the box and find something i didnt like, or was intimidated by months prior and suddenly have new inspiration for it. Some of my favorite pieces have come from that box✨
After about a week of staring at the sketch of this painting, its finished! I think ive finally found the combination of mixed colors to give me the soft deep greens ive been looking for:) im excited to keep going down this "ethereal" landscape route. Maybe some winter ones will be coming soon🖤

Been taking some time this week to finally get some rest. I know so many of us are feeling the pre holiday overwhelm- on top of the world feeling like its been on fire for wayy too long🙃 We are only human, and thsse are hard times in many ways. Dont forget to give yourself some grace. Be kind to yourself and take the breaks you need. Get that little treat, take a long nap or long walk in the woods. Slow down a little and be your best friend. Take care of yourself friends🖤
With all of that said the creative juices have been more of a soft annoying drip rather than a flow. The autumn burnout is so real. I am very behind on a lot, and it doesnt help that its been taking days/weeks to finish anything. But i need to remember to be kind to myself. And in between the breaks i have managed to make a few things that have sparked some joy🖤 ill get to sharing more of the newer pieces and (month old) pieces soon✨ but for now-

Internet friends! Im a person who made a whole 10 minute video talking about my process in a new project:) which happens maybe once every few years😅 im just so excited about this project and couldnt help myself:)
Also, i grew up in the early-mid 2000s. Ya know, back when online content was an hour+ long? boy do i miss those days~ so yall get a 10 minute video🎉 i promise its worth the watch- and if you make it to the end you totally get a gold star✨

Today is the day!✨
The audubon plein air painting competition opening reception is tonight from 6-730pm🖤 Im so excited to see all of the pieces from all of the artists in the show:)
Doing this competition was definitely out of my comfort zone. And i learned that working under a tight deadline with painting may not be for me😅 usually i excel at fast paced work but when it comes to painting i definitely need my time. Alas, im still very proud of myself for trying something new and im happy with the final piece🖤

First autumnal landscape of the year🍁
Im soooo ready to start painting the changing leaves and beautiful yellows and auburns that are soon to come🖤 Heres to hoping we dont have such a gloomy fall this year after such a rainy summer~

Also! Im doing a plein air painting competition tomorrow. It has been a longggg time since ive done plein air painting and im definitely feeling a bit nervous. I have two spots picked out and im hoping the painting gods are on my side tomorrow😅 i have been really happy with my landscape pieces as of late so im going in with some confidence- but alas, anxiety is always the loudest🙃
There will also be a gallery show October 1st at the grange audubon center at Audubon metro park 6-7:30pm if yall would like to come see my piece along with a bunch of other talented painters:) There will also be awards and people's choice, so come vote for my piece! It will mean the world❤️

I meed to be better at sharing some photos of my shop Undergroundlost&found here. To be honest, Feather Art Studio could not have come this far without it🖤 Forever grateful and indebted to this amazing space my partner and i built together🥹
I cant believe we are nearing 7 years since we opened ULAF, and starting popping up around Ohio. Time absolutely flies!
Also crazy to think this is how our set up looks now, i know for a fact both of us never saw this coming. And it definitely makes our old set ups a little embarrassing 😅 alas, my heart is full, and i adore my little shared pop up shop✨
