Once the decking comes off, we can see the actual roof assembly — framing, insulation, ventilation conditions, and anything else that may need to be addressed before rebuilding.

Another roof replacement underway. 🏠

Before the new roofing system goes on, the old shingles come off and the roof deck gets exposed so we can see what we’re actually working with.

This is the stage where we inspect the decking, address anything that needs attention, and prepare the roof for the new system.

A roof can look completely different from the ground than it does once you get up close.

These shingles are showing significant cracking and deterioration throughout the roof surface. Once shingles begin opening up like this, the roofing system becomes increasingly vulnerable to water getting where it doesn’t belong.

This is exactly why a roof inspection involves more than standing in the driveway and looking up.

Cedar roofs age a little differently. 👀

From the ground, this roof has that classic weathered cedar appearance. Get closer, though, and you start seeing what years of exposure can do—organic growth, deterioration, and significant weathering throughout the wood shakes.

That’s why we don’t evaluate a cedar roof from the driveway. The condition of the individual shakes, flashing, penetrations, and overall roof system all matter.

Sometimes you have to get up there and take a closer look.

You asked about the baffles,
here they are. 👀

The original roof had soffit vents and a ridge vent, but the insulation was installed directly against the roof decking with no clear airflow path between them.
As we rebuild the roof, we're installing baffles to create that ventilation channel from the soffit toward the ridge.

Sometimes the most important part of a roofing project is what you'll never see once it's finished.

A roof doesn’t have to be 25 or 30 years old to start showing problems.

This roof is only 15 years old, but its condition is a good reminder that age alone doesn’t tell the whole story. Installation, ventilation, weather exposure, and maintenance can all affect how a roofing system performs over time.

If your roof is approaching 15 years, having it inspected can give you a much better picture of its actual condition.
