New patio and side-yard walkway, finished up this week here in Colorado Springs. ๐Ÿ™Œ

The patio wraps right around the back corner of the house and ties in flush with the existing slab, no step, no lip, just one clean surface. Then we ran a walkway the whole length of the side yard out to the gate.

That side yard was gravel and weeds a week ago. Now they can actually use it.

Broom finish, 4,000 PSI, sloped away from the house so the water goes where it should. Always a good feeling handing one of these back.

What you're watching is called a broom finish and it's one of the most important steps in any concrete job in Colorado.

Here's why it matters:
A smooth concrete surface looks great but the second it gets wet, icy or snowy it becomes dangerously slippery. The broom creates thousands of tiny grooves across the surface that give your tires and your feet something to grip.

Done too early: the grooves disappear as the concrete settles.
Done too late: the concrete is too hard and the finish is weak.
Done at the right moment: you get a clean, consistent texture that lasts for decades.
