For Samantha Walter, construction means understanding how all the pieces fit together and knowing that every role plays a part in making the project work.
As a Federal Project Administrator at Bryan Construction, Samantha supports project teams with document control, subcontractor billing, certified payroll reporting, and the standardized processes required for federal work.
“We help keep things moving on the back end. We might not have a physical presence onsite, but the work is continuously happening in the background.”
That work also carries a personal connection for Samantha. She grew up at Ellsworth Air Force Base, where her parents were stationed, and now supports projects contributing to the installation’s continued growth.
Her perspective on teamwork extends beyond Bryan. Samantha has been involved with NAWIC for eight years and recently completed her second term as president of the Colorado Springs chapter, where she has focused on supporting women in construction, building relationships across the industry, and developing her own leadership skills.
One of the biggest lessons she's learned from both construction and leadership is how to work with different communication styles, personalities, and ways of thinking while keeping everyone moving toward the same goal.
“There are so many moving parts. We’re all part of something bigger, trying to accomplish something bigger.”
Her advice for anyone considering a career in construction: speak up, ask for what you need, and be resilient.
