To the average observer, this hail impact doesn’t look that bad. The problem is that in a few short years this spot becomes a hole completely through the shingles, and more than likely the underlayment too, and eventually can rot the plywood and quite possibly leak into the house. Cleo says she loves riding around and doing roof inspections with me, but she told me this morning that she’s ready to get back in the mountains. She likes hiking and maybe this weekend would be a great time for us to take a break and hit the trails.
