CONSTRUCTION SU***DE PREVENTION WEEK
We talk about jobsite safety all the time.
Hard hats.
Fall protection.
Steel connections.
Equipment.
Concrete.
PPE.
But there is another safety issue on every jobsite that you can’t always see.
Mental health.
This week is Construction Su***de Prevention Week, and it’s a reminder that the person working next to you may be carrying something you know absolutely nothing about.
Construction can be demanding. Long hours, physical exhaustion, financial pressure, deadlines, injuries, family responsibilities, long stretches away from home—and sometimes the culture of “tough it out” makes it even harder to ask for help.
But here’s the thing: Asking for help isn’t weakness.
And checking on your buddy doesn’t make you soft.
It makes you a teammate.
At A Better Contractor, we believe looking out for our people means more than making sure they have the right PPE.
Sometimes it means asking:
“You good?”
And actually waiting for the answer.
If you’re struggling, don’t suffer in silence. Talk to someone you trust. A coworker. A friend. A family member. Your supervisor. A professional.
And if you’re worried about someone else, start the conversation.
You don’t have to have the perfect words. Sometimes simply letting someone know “I’m here, and I’m listening” can be the first step.
Construction is built by people.
So let’s take care of the people doing the building.
Safety isn’t just getting everyone home physically. It’s making sure we look out for each other along the way.
If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 for free, confidential, 24/7 support.
Construction Su***de Prevention Week runs September 14–18, 2026, and the Construction Industry Alliance for Su***de Prevention provides jobsite toolbox talks and other resources specifically for construction crews.
