We know, we know. We’ve talked about fire mitigation a lot this year. 🌲πŸ”₯ But it’s still important!

Overgrown vegetation, dead plant material, and dense areas around your home can all contribute to wildfire risk. Fall is a great time to take a look at your property, clean things up, and create defensible space before next fire season.

We’ll keep talking about it, because protecting your home and your landscape is worth repeating.

🌳 When is the best time to fertilize your trees in Colorado?

Timing matters! While trees can be fertilized throughout the year, fall is one of the best times to give your trees the nutrients they need, BECAUSE:

πŸ‚ As leaves begin to drop, tree roots are still actively growing, even after the canopy has stopped. This allows nutrients to support healthy root growth and nutrient storage before winter arrives.

Want to learn more about best practices for tree fertilization? We get it. Knowledge is power. πŸ™Œ

🚨 Colorado Springs homeowners: Do you have an ash tree in your yard?

The City of Colorado Springs Forestry Office has confirmed the presence of Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) within the city limits. This invasive beetle attacks ash trees from the inside out and has already destroyed more than 100 million ash trees across North America.
The good news? Healthy ash trees can often be saved with early treatment. The challenge is that infested trees may look perfectly healthy for years before showing obvious signs of damage.

If you have ash trees on your property, now is the time to:
βœ” Find out if your trees are ash.
βœ” Watch for signs of Emerald Ash Borer.
βœ” Schedule a professional inspection before damage becomes severe.

Our ISA Certified Arborists can identify your trees, evaluate their health, and recommend the best course of action to help protect your landscape.

Read our guide to learn what Emerald Ash Borer is, how to identify ash trees, and what treatment options are available.

Do trees really need fertilizer? 🌳

The answer might surprise you: sometimes, but not always.

While healthy trees in healthy soil can often get everything they need naturally, Colorado's rocky, alkaline soils, drought, and compacted landscapes can make it harder for trees to access essential nutrients.

So how do you know if your trees could benefit from fertilization? Here we break down when fertilizing makes sense, why it matters, and when to call a professional.

Tree work is one of those jobs where the right equipment can make a big difference.

For this project, our crew had a track chipper on site, making it easy to chip trees right where the work was happening instead of hauling everything across the property. Pair that with a skid steer for cleanup, and the team can spend more time getting the work done and less time moving debris around.

One less hazard, a few more wood chips. 🌳πŸͺ΅
