Hello friends, family, clients and supporters of Sevier & Co!
Our son Easton and his High Plains Little League teammates just won the Junior League Baseball State Championship! We are heading to Bend, Oregon where they will represent Colorado in the United States Went Regional tournament!

This was not a trip that we had planned for, and the travel expenses, along with the missed wor time will certainly add up quickly!

In an attempt to help with the cost of the trip, we are taking orders for custom, handmade, one of a kind baseball board games!

❤️ Ahh, the Lake House. ❤️ In 2019, our client found us on Facebook Marketplace and placed a ginormous order for her just freshly bought lake house in Idaho Springs, CO to be enjoyed and as a rental income. Her story of setting her sights on the dream of owning a lake house from the view of her friend's house across the lake, and the drive to make that dream come to fruition, continues to inspire.
Multiple tables and benches- outdoor and indoor, and a king size bed. All created from reclaimed wood. It was a full family ordeal with Dave's parents and grandma helping with delivery. Our business has gone 100 miles in every direction from Colorado Springs!
We were in the middle of transitioning to our garage after building out of our at that time Pastor's barn for a short while before they decided to sell.
The amount of times we have had to move workshops! It never gets easier.
The biggest gift of that time in the barn was the courage to say yes to bigger orders, not limiting ourselves and what could be built on a slanted driveway in between weather.
Ironic that we got our biggest order at the time as we balanced moving and building.
With our landlord's permission, we set up shop in our garage, the walls lovingly covered in the art from our catered to you paint party business.
I miss having that space SO much!
Part of moving meant clearing out the scrap wood pile by the barn.

It was serendipitous for our client's order.

We have no idea where much of the wood originated from and some of the pieces had to be replaced after delivery because they started oozing weird black goo.
But! The rest of the pieces have held their character beautifully. Luxuriously thick and unique! Even as the harsh sun takes its toll on them. We've never seen pieces like them again.
Each idea that has been brought to life over the years is special to me because Dave built it, and I have a lot of favorites, but these hold such a special place.
It felt like being in our home away from home!
Colorado is a land locked state, and to be close to water, and where I grew up in Evergreen, was a lovely change of pace as summer speeds by. We worked hard as a family doing maintenance work, and got to squeeze in some time fishing, fully relishing our two night stay.

What a journey the wood, and us, have been on!

We found out today that Dave didn't get the job. We are extremely disappointed but we truly believe God has something in store for us. Thank you for supporting our family business. ❤️

Dave has a big interview today at 3:30.
The last time he interviewed for a job was a group interview for a position at Tumbleweed Tiny House Company in 2016.
We're a little nervous!
This is for a middle school woodshop teacher position, in Canon City, about an hour south of us.
Work is slower than usual, but honestly we have been praying about a change, while keeping the roots of what we have grown.
Self-employment is incredibly hard and incredibly rewarding.
We are doing the Dave Ramsey program and more actively sowing into our future. I didn't think I would live this long and I want to make the most of it! I've seen unexpected visions of Dave and I growing old and it's given me hope. We've never owned a home and we are seeking our Lord's will of where to plant our roots.
We have a daughter pursuing going out of state to college next year, and our son will be a freshman in high school this fall. We believe this position will be a step/leap of faith in a new but familiar direction.
Yes, Dave has a plethora of woodworking knowledge. The teaching aspect is a whole nother thing. 6 classes, 2 per grade, 23 per class. His innovative and sense of humor spirit is up for the task. I love that he involves me and we have been hashing out ideas.

While the benefits of paid time off (say what?!), retirement, etc. I truly think the biggest benefit will be for Dave not to be a lone ranger.
If you know him, you know he has a heart for youth and coaching. I have witnessed a change in kids largely due to his vote of confidence in them! It makes me tear up every time I think about it.
Dave and I have spoken about the desire to train up the next generation and the Lord works in mysterious ways for shizzle.
There is A LOT to figure out.
All this to say.
We are entrepreneurs to our core.
Even if he is offered the job, and he accepts it, we will likely have limited summer availability for custom projects. And we will always have availability for follow up care.
But if you have been wanting to bring an idea to life- now is the time to reach out!

I enjoy building the big projects, and also the smaller ones. This "Miraculous box" was a fun build. It will be used as a toy box, so it needed to be sturdy, and safe to open and close. The box is made from solid Alder, so it is lightweight, but solid and strong. The hinges are soft close, ensuring the little fingers that open it everyday don't get slammed on.
The client sent the design and measurements she wanted. The design was done on the laser printer, and then I added the red by hand.

The office with the built in cabinets also got a beautiful oval conference table.
I love the design that the clients chose. It was a challenge figuring out exactly where the leverage points would be, and how wide the base must be to ensure it stays sturdy no matter where weight is applied.
The base consists of two pieces that interlock for easy assembly. The solid color stain matches the cabinets and the desk in the office.

The last picture is the set of stairs that I went up and down hundreds of times during the install process of the built ins and the table! I got my workout in!

Dave here!

There are projects that take longer than expected. Then there are projects that take longer than longer than expected.

This was one of my toughest challenges to date. A custom built in bookcase with cabinets, soft close drawers, and heavy duty sawtooth adjustable shelves. Built for the CEO of an awesome non profit here in Colorado Springs.

I installed this unit a few weeks back. I love how it turned out, and am very proud of it.
That being said, I had to wait until now to post about it, or even think about it.

As I look at it now, I am grateful for what I get to do. I am thankful that my family supports me when things don't go as smooth as I hope.
Self employment is tough, but rewarding.

We are looking forward to the future. Never sure about what is next, but always optimistic.
