Job Well Done!
As the Denver Metro area expands rapidly, new infrastructure is essential to support future residential and commercial developments. Global Underground was selected to install a new 24” water line connecting an existing water main to a new development, utilizing our expertise in trenchless design, engineering, construction, and large-diameter FPVC pipeline installation. Global Underground completed two highly technical trenchless crossings. The 1st consisted of a 485’ bore installing 36” steel casing beneath a highway and major railroad. The 2nd crossing presented a unique opportunity for us to work closely with our engineering team to change the design of the bore to not only cross the railroad but to additionally cross a wetland area in one bore to eliminate disturbances to the native land and avoid environment impacts. Due to soft soils this crossing utilized pipe-ramming methods to install 180’ of 48” steel conductor casing underneath the railroad. Then 600’ of 24” FPVC pipe was installed through the conductor casing and then using HDD methods underneath the wetlands to complete the bore. The project required close coordination between our Tunneling and HDD divisions to include design, site layout, construction setup, permitting, railroad flagging, scheduling, and project coordination. Through collaboration with the owner, owner’s representatives, general contractor and Global Underground teams, the project was successfully completed while meeting and exceeding project goals.
