A heartfelt Thank You to the Broadmoor Garden Club for inviting me to teach a dahlia arranging class at the magnificent property of High Valley Farm on the westside of Colorado Springs. This was truly the highlight of the season for me personally and I was just so honored that you all fell in love with my dahlias. I also appreciated my friend Beverly K. Photography for coming with me to take incredible shots of this special day. A day to remember forever! 💐

Was it a dahlia class or a party? 🤗🌸☕️
We had a great time together as my husband and I demonstrated digging dahlias in Colorado soil. We then talked about dividing and storing dahlias. Remember: You can treat the dahlia tuber like an annual or a perennial. The most important thing to consider for successful overwintering of dahlias is the temperature. You must have a place to store your dahlias that stays between 40-50 degrees. Not too cold and not too warm. If you don’t have the time or skill to divide your crown, just half or quarter your crown and replant those sections next year. ALWAYS use clean blades every single time you touch a dahlia plant to keep disease from spreading. Use a bleach solution or disinfectant wipes. Here’s to a great 2027 growing season for all of us!

With the frost coming, we cut the last two of my husband’s favorite dahlia, Bohemian Spartacus. David has been with me from the beginning learning how to grow dahlias and he will help me teach the dig, divide and store class in our backyard on Saturday. We only have space for one or two more attendees as we wanted to keep the group smaller. If you are interested in the two hour session from 10 am to noon, send me a private message. $95 includes handouts and brunch! Weather is supposed to be good so we expect a great time together! 🌸

Ever wonder why there can never be blue dahlias? I just published the October Dahlia Talk for the American Dahlia Society and you can click below to read about this fascinating subject! Blue is my favorite color so I sure wish I could have my beloved dahlia in this dreamy hue.

Well I didn’t see any dahlias in Italy like I did in England but I had a blast this week with my hubby and good friends Penny and Karin.

I found quite a lot of dahlias in the Cotswolds today! Inside a local church were fresh bouquets scattered all around. So many beautiful flowers and trees and I’m in love with the ivy on the cottages. I can see the allure of England. 🇬🇧

I’m in London visiting friends! The flowers here are amazing! After three days here, off to the English countryside with more flower photos to come. 🇬🇧💂☕️
