🥬 Before You Rinse Those Leftovers Down the Disposal...

Would you put this down your garbage disposal?

It might seem harmless, but leafy greens and other fibrous vegetables can wrap around the disposal, clog your drain, and lead to plumbing problems over time.

Here are a few things that are better off in the trash or compost instead of your garbage disposal:

❌ Leafy greens (lettuce, spinach, kale, etc.) ❌ Celery ❌ Corn husks ❌ Potato peels ❌ Coffee grounds ❌ Rice & pasta ❌ Grease, fats, and cooking oils ❌ Bones

💡 A good rule of thumb: If it doesn't break down easily, it probably doesn't belong in your garbage disposal.

Your disposal is designed to handle small food scraps, not all of your kitchen waste.

🚨 Colorado Homeowners: Before Your Water Heater Fails... Please Read!

If your water heater is getting older, this is something you'll want to know.

Beginning in January 2026, Colorado implemented new Ultra-Low NOx (ULN) emissions standards for newly sold gas water heaters. These changes have affected the types of water heaters that can be installed in many homes and have increased the cost of many replacement systems.

For some homes—especially those with older propane atmospheric-vent water heaters—a simple like-for-like replacement may no longer be possible. Depending on your home's setup and the equipment available, you may need to install a power-vent or tankless water heater instead.

The best time to learn about your options is before your water heater fails—not when you're suddenly without hot water and trying to make an important decision in an emergency.
