My guys worked their buts off to tackle this project. It was blood and sweat. No tears. When a natural stone wall like this collapses it can be a worrisome situation for owners and neighbors. Banner Retaining walls was able to design and propose a new sound structure that will last.

My Great Crew built this very rarely used but Extremely Clean Broadstone Contemporary wall in Colleyville. This Keystone block offers a smooth texture with a nice Antique Pewter Blend. The caps are standard split face that were reversed. I wish we did more of these walls because they look so clean.

I guess I should show that we can also build some big strong Retaining Walls too. This Broadstone from Keystone was Red River Blend color with caps that we built in Desoto. The building is not on piers. We used geo-grid with drainage and Select Fill soils.

Sometimes old Railroad Ties are the least expensive option. A long time ago the owners spent a good amount of money installing H-beams with RR ties. After about 30 years of sun, and wet soils the RR ties rot and need replacing. We’ve been working on this property for years and hope to be working on it for many more. At Banner Retaining Walls we try to adapt to what customers want and need.

Well, “the other guys” struck again. The old RR tie retaining wall was removed and replaced with Pavestone Broadstone. The guys that built it installed it upside down and the batter (setback) goes out instead of into the hill. The story goes that I bid this job twice over 2 years. The owner hired the cheaper option. Now we are being called to fix it properly. The job will now likely cost more and take a month to remedy since the City has gotten involved.

When the other guys get hired this can be the result. This wall only lasted 2 weeks and came crashing down and is jeopardizing the sell of the property. They did not properly add drain rock or weep holes. Cheaper can sometimes cost you more. Choose a reputable company that will stand behind their work. Unfortunately these guys got paid and aren’t coming back to fix this.

When the “cheaper” guy gets hired these kind of things can happen. This is an older retaining wall built by a large company in DFW, but I’d expect most people can look at this photo and see that there are some issues with its construction.
