🛠️Custom Built-In Cabinetry🛠️
When I was 19yrs old, I was an apprentice in a Cabinet Shop with (1) other guy for about 2 years. It was me and Ed the Foreman. In that timeframe I worked solid 8hr.(+) days from 4am-3:30pm...Ed would pick me up on a pitch black mountain roadside in Northern California up in Polluck Pines which is off Highway 50 on the way to Lake Tahoe. I learned Cabinet building: Carcass assembly, face framing, drawer building, shelf cutting, Roll-out drawers, etc. etc.
Everything built from scratch. The toughest mental challenge was at the end of a large cabinet build for a Kitchen layout. Ed would line all the cabinets up in a large U on the warehouse floor, and my job was Sanding starting at 120, then 220, then 300. It was 8hrs of sanding for each grit level for 3 days straight non-stop, while Ed would start the next Cut-list for face frames.
Here's some pics of the design concept & architectural drawing a customer gave me to build a double chest, and open face built in for the children's play room.
Next stop, a large glue-up for the Red Oak Bench-tops, and then Paint, Poly & Piano hinges.
