Storms are moving through Michigan tonight, and Branch County is currently under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 11:00 PM.
This is a good reminder that preparedness is not just about major disasters. It is about the simple things we do before the storm hits.
Before tonight’s weather gets worse:
- Charge your phones
- Have flashlights ready
- Check on elderly neighbors or family
- Secure loose items outside
- Know where your family will go if a warning is issued
- Keep shoes nearby in case you need to move quickly after damage
- Do not rely on outdoor sirens alone — have weather alerts turned on
A watch means conditions are favorable. A warning means take action.
Preparedness does not have to be complicated. A few minutes of planning before the storm can make a major difference when seconds matter.
Stay safe, stay weather aware, and take care of each other.
