Your backflow preventer is usually the most exposed part of your sprinkler system. It sits above ground, it's full of brass and small parts, and it's the first thing a hard freeze goes after.

A few quick tips:
• Get it blown out and drained with the rest of the system, not just shut off
• An insulated cover or bag adds cheap extra protection
• Leave the test c***s and valves the way your tech sets them for winter

Ever wonder what a sprinkler blowout actually does?

We hook up compressed air and push the water out of every zone, one at a time. That protects:

• Lines: the buried pipe that can split when trapped water freezes
• Fittings: elbows, tees, and connections, the weak spots that crack first
• Heads: spray and rotor bodies that can break or stop popping up after a freeze
