Mow season has begun, and weβre enjoying all this rain weβve been given. Last year was pretty dry, and many lawns had a hard time catching up. Not this year... lawns are looking good π
Good reminder that everything needs adequate water and care. πΏ
Established lawns should receive about 1 to 1Β½ inches of water per week, including rainfall. A good target is Β½ inch per watering, about twice per week, depending on conditions.
Best watering time: before 10am to reduce evaporation and help prevent disease. The goal is to water deeply enough to reach the roots.
Keep in mind slopes, soil type, shade, and other factors that affect how water moves into the soil. If you see runoff, youβre watering faster than the lawn can absorb it.
If youβre on city water, be sure to check your local backflow testing deadlines for the season. Coeur d'Alene is due by July 1, 2026. π§
