the cliche “don’t blink” becomes more real as my girls grow & these hours spent away from home add up. to be the provider for my family is an honor but it comes at a price. im grateful for days like today where I can bring my girls to work and show them “what dada does when hes gone. what he does for them & the future he’s building for our family.”

All the little micro-decisions are the ones that nobody is thinking about when they decide to build their dream home. What they’re thinking about is the master bathroom, the open-concept floor plan, or the 20ft ceiling height at its peak: as they should. The little tedious details are what you hire a builder for.

At 20/21, I read the book: The Traveler’s Gift by Andy Andrews and in it are the “7 decisions to change your life.” After reading the book, I framed these 7 decisions & began to live by them. This is one very small but very impactful decision that I made along the journey to where I am now. I will drop them below & if you haven’t read it, then you need to.

1. the Buck stops here. I am responsible for my past and my future.

2. I will seek wisdom. I will be a servant to others.

3. I am a person of action. I seize this moment. I choose now.

4. I have a decided heart. My destiny is assured.

5. Today I will choose to be happy. I am the possessor of a grateful spirit.

6. I will greet this day with a forgiving spirit. I will forgive myself.

7. I will persist without exception. I am a person of great faith.

I’m a 32 year old Custom Home Builder and I’m not embarrassed to admit that:

1. I’ve had to completely start over in business FOUR different times… to pour everything you have into something only for it to crumble in front of you, changes you.

2. I think that the solution to my problem is that if I only worked harder, things would go smoothly. And while hard work is necessary, rarely are things 100% in our control and a one-size fits all solution like this only leads to long hours away from my family and slipping into workaholic tendencies.

3. At just 12 years old, I had to step up and help provide for my family. In adulthood, Im honored to have this roll (for not only my family but also for the families of the men I hire) but the pressure of this task weighs on me more than I admit.

But the trial produces perseverance, and perseverance produces character. I know that no matter what- I will keep on showing up. For my family, for my team, and for myself. Stick around if you want to follow the journey of becoming a master craftsman.

We're starting down the home stretch on this home! Insulation, drywall, and paint have gone smoothly and now comes the fun part. Cabinets are getting installed starting this week; flooring and tile start in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to see how this home finishes out!

Happy New Year! 🎉

Check out this project's progress update!
While the trades have been working on the inside, we've been able to focus on the patio covers and exterior timber accents. We'll be working on siding over the next few of weeks. Stay tuned, the siding on this house is something special and is going to look awesome!

I love seeing the roof system of this home come together! We're glad to get all dried in before the weather turns. Last steps are the timber frame patio cover and entry!

This is a busy job site as the trades are starting to work on the plumbing and HVAC and we wrap up the exterior!

Stay tuned as we get these timber frames completed and set windows and doors!
