The phrase, “You can bend me, but you can’t break me,” was the perfect words for this project! What we thought would be a few hours to fix, ended up being one of the toughest jobs we’ve completed in a long while. I was on the edge of running out of ideas, trying to locate and unclog a major drainway before the storms caused additional severe damage to this beautiful property. We fought rain, deep water, mud, and fatigue for a couple weeks before getting this under control, so we could take a breath and figure out our next steps. We pumped, we chased dyed water, we used a water jet, we jousted with 200’ of pipe, we surveyed, and we dove into the mud day in & day out until we found the pipe that had been submerged beneath 8’ of mud from upstream washouts.
Take a good look at the first 2 pics to see just how much water was backing up. Compare water levels to the garage and the excavator down low. The excavator in this 2nd pic is still 15’ above the pipe.
Just a guess, but 25’ deep water is probably accurate.
Sorry for the long post and numerous pics, but this one is hard to describe in a few lines.
