What a great day to fly trusses. Excluding set up and tear down of the crane, we got these trusses set in about 1.5 hours. Now we spend the rest of the day bracing and straightening them thoroughly... Great job RCH crew!

Randol Custom Homes (RCH) is currently looking for carpenters and apprentices for immediate employment. We mostly operate in and around Cody, but sometimes commute up to 50 miles to work. I have 2 or 3 positions open, and can immediately employ applicants that pass an interview process. RCH requires applicants have a current, valid driver's license; a host of their own hand tools and appropriate clothing for all seasons and conditions; and that they get themselves to/from their homes to our workshop in Cody, each and every work day (M-F, and generally about 40 hours per week). In addition, RCH expects all employees to: have a good work ethic and be self motivated; accept a "no drugs tolerated" policy; get along with current employees and subcontractors, and always show respect and courtesy to any and all RCH's co-workers and customers. A little Round House update.... I've been dinking around with backfilling behind the house and shaping grade in the front. We're laying tiles and carpet. The wife and I have been setting cabinets--and most are in. All the sheetrock and painting has been done in the past months. Most of the electric is trimmed out. A good portion of the plumbing is trimmed out, too. The wood-fired boiler is heating all the floors and the hot water in the house now, and it runs quite well on coal, too. We are closing in, and should be in it this summer....

Just a quick dump of photos of Round. Haven't posted in quite awhile. They are in no particular order, and I'm sure some have been published before. Roof is dried-in and graveled, still need to add straw and soil, and then seed with native grasses. Sheetrock starts getting hung this coming week. Plumbing and electric are very near done. Cabinetry is ordered. Flooring is ordered. Will be moving in this summer...

Round House update... We're officially upstairs now, running the perimeter's firewood and mortar walls. The lower level is enclosed, with all windows set. The rear's, upper block walls (ouside surface) have been top coated, and are now ready for water proofing, insulation, and more backfill. The 2nd floor's deck is now complete, and we are setting all the posts for the remaining roof beams. We've started building the remaining window bucks for the 2nd level, too, including a custom buck, designed for an antique window that came from a very old church in Sheridan.

It's slow going in the winter. But. Half the roof is now truly dried-in and shedding water. When the second half is caught up to the first, layers of insulation and literally tons of gravel, straw and soil will grow grass on top of it. We are finally starting to wrap up the front segments of the main level's ceiling (which are also the second level's floor). The cordwood, perimeter walls are slowly encircling the round space--and let me tell you, these walls are sturdy, stout, beautiful, quiet, unique, earthy, warm and inviting. I cannot wait to live within them. We have began setting windows, too. What a place this will be when we finish....

I've been asked for an update on the Round House's progress.... We're under snow, but I did get the drone up earlier today. We've been running tons of underground stuff--gas lines; boiler lines; water lines to and from the house, well and shop; electric lines; TV and phone, etc. Cordwood walls are slowly circling the perimeter. We're about half backfilled. And I have about half the roof deck on (thanks to my crew's help). Too bad the nasty weather has moved in, as this will delay more progress, but we are slowly winning....
