On the Boards! A French Country Inspired Home.

A home shaped by the land, the people who live there, and the way they love to gather.

We've spent the past few months working with the owners of this custom residence to develop spaces that reflect their lifestyle, their love of the site, and the way they envision living and entertaining.

Set among vineyards with views across the valley, the home draws inspiration from French country architecture, pairing timeless details with a thoughtful response to its unique setting.

The exterior is taking shape now, with a mix of brick and stone, board and batten siding, metal roof accents, and heavy timber details supporting key architectural features.

Our goal is never to simply recreate a style. It's to understand what makes a place and its people unique, then bring those ideas together in a home that feels authentic to both.

Your home should be designed around the way you live.

More to come as this one develops!

650 square feet can go a surprisingly long way.

This small Oregon cabin was designed as the first phase of a property, with a simple idea behind it: create a comfortable place to live now that can evolve with the property over time.

The architecture borrows from the straightforward forms of traditional cabins, but updates them for modern living. A large opening connects the main living space directly to the landscape, while the compact footprint packs in a kitchenette, living room, bedroom, bathroom, and an optional loft for sleeping, lounging, or whatever comes next.

The interesting part is what happens beyond the first phase.
The cabin is sized and detailed so it can eventually become a garage or recreation space. The polished concrete floor can transition easily to that future use, while the loft is built within the manufactured roof truss system so it can remain self-supporting as the property develops.

It is a small building, but the thinking behind it is anything but small.

For this Oregon Coast concept, natural wood, dark exterior materials, and simple forms were chosen to settle into the landscape rather than compete with it.

Good small cabin design isn't necessarily about fitting less into a smaller space. It's about making every square foot work harder, and designing today with tomorrow in mind.

Pretty great article about homes and design... Keep an eye out for Drake Architecture in the piece!

Whether you have a house, condo, or townhouse, today’s homes work harder than ever to bring multi-use needs into a single space. How we make space for work, play, privacy, and togetherness evolves. So, too, does how we view home—especially in today’s challenging market. Design & remodeling “...

Sometimes the best way to improve a home is to add only what is truly needed. For this project, we designed a modest addition that created space for a new primary suite with practical entry and efficient laundry, giving the homeowners more room and functionality without losing the character and scale of the existing home.

The goal was simple: make the home work better for the way our clients live, while making the addition feel as though it had always belonged there.

We’re proud to have partnered with Motley Construction to bring this project from design to reality. Thoughtful architecture and careful craftsmanship come together to create spaces that feel natural, purposeful, and uniquely suited to the people who call them home.

A bathroom where texture, warmth, a details do the talking. From fluted wood vanity and brass fixtures to the green walls and patterned tile, each element creates a space that feels both refined and inviting. This space is built for a young couple to enjoy for years to come.

Which detail catches your eye first?

The feeling of coming home starts at the front door.

Nestled on a wooded hillside with views stretching across the valley below, this custom residence was designed around arrival, comfort, and connection. Inspired by mountain architecture and Northwest character, the home blends natural stone, stained wood, and expansive windows into a timeless expression of place.

A welcoming entry framed by native plantings and warm materials creates an inviting first impression, while vaulted ceilings, exposed wood beams, and panoramic views draw the landscape into the heart of the home.

Thoughtfully designed for both everyday living and entertaining, the main-floor primary suite, indoor-outdoor living spaces, and connected kitchen, dining, and great room create a home that feels equally suited for quiet mornings and memorable gatherings.

Architecture is more than shelter. It’s the experience of returning to a place that feels unmistakably yours.
