We want you to get the most from your pond. So here are 4 important questions to ask your contractor. These are our top priorities.
1. Will you strip the topsoil?
It is so important that the topsoil is stripped before the project is started so the contractor can spread it back across your yard so grass grows green and full.
2. Will you be digging a core trench outside the pond?
If you want a pond to hold water right up to ground level your contractor must dig a core trench. To pack clay as a liner at the top of your pond. I’m sure you’ve seen a pond where the water hangs low, this is one reason for that.
3. Will you cut out the tile outside the bank of my pond?
If not you’ll have another leaker. Old tile, especially field tile, will slowly suck water from your pond.
4. How deep will you dig the pond?
We recommend 16 feet deep. Any deeper or shallower and maintenance is very difficult. Ultimately we will do whatever the owner wants. But for your reference don’t be fooled by flashy sales pitches.
I hope this helps on your pond endeavors! We hope to work with you for all your pond needs. Pond construction and maintenance is our specialty.
