Since 1921 Sherman Plumbing and Heating Company has been proudly serving Clinton and surrounding areas. Over the years we’ve built a reputation as an expert, honest, and dependable company. The company was purchased by Steve and Julie Hadley in January of 2019. Under their new ownership, Sherman Plumbing and Heating Company continues to move forward in the proud legacy that was started over 100 ye

ars ago. The landmark Sherman Plumbing and Heating Company “leaky faucet” sign was installed in 1949 and was the first animated sign in Clinton. The sign features red and green lettering and blue drips. The three blue drips are then followed by a splash.

Can you smell the pumpkin spice in the air? Yeah, yeah, I know it's, like, 100 degrees and will be for the foreseeable future, but it is the perfect time to get your name on the list for a fall check and service! We both know how this goes in Missouri: it's 100 degrees until suddenly it isn't, then you've got about 2 weeks of moderate weather before it's freezing again. That little bit of nice weather is our sweet spot for check and services, especially in heat pump systems that need refrigerant levels checked. Don't spend the first days of fall shivering! Today certainly marks a new era for us here at Sherman's, because this booklet we located in our archives (see: box we found in the attic) confirms that we've been involved in appliances since at least 1927! It's Wednesday, did you guess this week's Thing correctly? Statistically speaking, yes 😂 This week's thing is a spark plug gap gauge! A gap gauge was more common a few years back than it is now, but it's designed to help you make sure you have the proper distance between a spark plug's electrodes to get the best possible spark. In this instance, *what* the thing is might not be the biggest mystery but rather *why* a HVAC, plumbing, and appliance company would need one. The answer? We don't completely know, but it might have been used during the era of Lennox Pulse furnaces that used a spark plug. Even though we don't sell Lennox products, we've been repairing systems of all sorts for over a century! Too many of you got it right to list everyone, but Supreme Bragging Rights go to Rebecca Flaherty and Kayla Hooten who commented the correct answer almost instantly! Fantastic job! But, our most favorite answer of all has to go to Jonathan Compton who says "Definitely not a ninja throwing star. (My dad was *very* clear about that about 50 years ago.)" 😂 You, sir, not only win the game, you win the internet. Thank you to everyone who played along!
