Our club is located in the Cleveland/Northeast Ohio area. Founded in 1936 We are an affiliate of the national Cactus & Succulent Society of America (CSSA).

Whether you're a beginner or a long time collector & grower of cactus and succulents, we meet monthly at the Cleveland Botanical Garden, to learn & share our experiences. The Midwest Cactus & Succulent Society was organized in 1936 by a group of men and women who were interested in the study, collection and cultivation of cacti and succulents. Our members live throughout northeast Ohio. Member exp

ertise ranges from the beginner eager to learn, to the long time collector who loves to share knowledge. We grow our plants on windowsills, under lights, outside in summer, on porches and in greenhouses.

Big thanks to Jared, Liz, Derick and the crew at Groovy Plants Ranch for showing our club members around The Ranch this past Saturday. This year, we made the trip down to Marengo, Ohio from the Cleveland area to check out what is new.
One very special addition is the Hendricks-Hughes Collection House. This is a combination of long time MWCSS member Bill Hendricks and GPR owner, Jared Hughes cactus & succulent collections. What a treat to see these mature plants.
The nursery should be one the bucket list of any plant lover! They not only have a great selection of cactus and succulents, but also beautiful perennials, annuals, plant containers of every size, botanical gifts and a great selection of rocks and minerals. There is something for everyone!

Today was our May meeting and while we were inside, the weather was very 'summer-like' outside. After our business meeting we were treated to a great talk by our club Secretary, Christie Briggs...'The Chelsea Experience! - RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025'. Both Christie and her husband Michael (also a member) love traveling and London is one of their favorite places to visit. While the famous flower show is mainly focused on flowers, plants (of every variety) and trees, there were plenty of cacti and succulents featured in the spectacular displays. This annual show is certainly a 'bucket list' worthy event!
Following Christie's talk, we had our Show and Tell. Members were asked to bring in anything that was in bloom. Featured here are just a few of the beautiful plants our members brought in to show off.

If you LOVE orchids, you won't want to miss the Windswept in Time Orchids OPEN HOUSE on May 23rd & 24th.
You may have met Kim at our Show and Sale, she is an avid cactus and succulent grower while her husband Edgar is an expert orchid grower. It's definitely worth stopping by!

What is better on a day that started off overcast...it's an💥explosion💥 of blooms! These are mostly Echinopsis, from the collection of long-time club member, Bill Hendricks.
Bill is an expert propagator and grower of these beautiful plants. His cross breeding has produced some spectacular results🏵
