Winter is here! 🥶
With the cold weather arriving, make sure your propane tanks are filled, your electric fireplace is properly working and warm air is flowing to each room!
If you aren't staying in your RV you should make sure it's winterized and not in danger of cracked plumbing, damaged water heaters, or more!
Some tips for winterizing your RV:
-Always Bypass the Water Heater
Prevents you from needing 6-10 gallons of expensive RV antifreeze just to fill a tank that doesn't need it. Saves money and time. Check your manual for valve locations!
-Use ONLY Non-Toxic RV/Marine Antifreeze
NEVER use automotive antifreeze (toxic and will contaminate your fresh water system). RV/Marine antifreeze is typically pink and is safe for potable water systems
-Drain Everything First
The goal is to get as much plain water out as possible before adding antifreeze. This includes the fresh tank, the black/gray tanks (clean and flush them!), and opening all low-point drains.
-Remove or Bypass Water Filters
Antifreeze will ruin a costly whole-house or inline water filter cartridge. Take them out and store them for the season.
-Tend to the Batteries
Cold drains battery capacity. Disconnect the negative cable. For long-term storage, remove the batteries and store them in a cool, dry place, keeping them on a battery maintainer (not a trickle charger) to prevent damage.
