Amazing week in Berlin at the conference hosted by Technische Universität Berlin and VERA MYERS. Lots of FunGuys and Gals sharing research and projects. It was hosted in the historic AEG turbine Factory by Peter Behrens. The absolute highlight was seeing Hilma Nayitsuwe Nashandi again who was a star in the big hall.

Our submission to the space design challenge received honorable mention - and some attention in the thanks to an article by . The esteemed panel included starchitects, artists, and an astronaut all steeped in space and planetary sciences. Our submittal is based on our work with to develop architecture that can grow off planet through the program. Using microorganism can save trillions in mass transport costs of building materials, food, oxygen, and other biogenic resources. The work is leading to breakthroughs here on earth too- see our page to learn about Mycohab that is a NASA spinoff project that converted tons of invasive bush into food and housing in Africa. could be used to regenerate Earth and seed other planets with vibrant ecosystems.

Great article from about our work with at to grow buildings off planet. The research is funded by ‘s NIAC program for game changing technologies. This is enabling on earth and may lead to seeding new worlds with life. Search for BigThink - First Homes on Mars may be Alive to learn how.

Great article in Big Think on our work with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration to grow buildings off-planet. The work funded through NASA’s NIAC program will proliferate regenerative architecture on earth and potentially seed new planets with living architecture.

Instead of hauling heavy building materials across space, future astronauts may grow fungal shelters from spores, waste, and local regolith.

Nice article from the Financial Times. You may find a paywall so the TLDR is that biogenic and regenerative architecture and manufacturing can save our planet!

And spoiler to the title- yes we can grow a building from fungi - and at the same time feed people, regenerate land and mitigate greenhouse gases.

Mycelium is making sustainable strides in the carbon-intensive construction sector, but other industries offer some sobering reality checks
