Went back to a house we worked on most of the first half of this year to finish a couple of things. I can’t wait to see this place completed and get some final pictures of it. Some of the most challenging installations I’ve done, but so rewarding. I’m very proud of the work we did there, but most of all I’m proud of how we were able to make the homeowners vision come to life.

Follow up to the last post, we were able to completely demo the old shower, save and reuse the glass door, rebuild the wall, and give the homeowners something they can use from now on with no worries of ever having to go through this again. Big thank you to the Young family for trusting Apex with your repair!

Another rotten mess of a shower. No pre slope under the liner, multiple screws THROUGH the liner, corners folded wrong, spot bonded tile, and lots and lots of rotten wood and mold. This house is four years old….
This is why I didn’t start building custom showers until I was fully educated and qualified to build them. I could never with a clear conscience charge someone thousands of dollars for something that would cost them thousands more to replace in just a couple of years. Let alone cause them to get sick because of the mold exposure. What burns me up about this is that no one is going to be held responsible. The installer may have no idea his work failed, and the builder probably offers no warranty past the first year. What’s worse, is that there are several neighbors next to this house whose showers are failing also.
Hire a professional.. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, a properly built shower should last as long as the house stands, and not need a complete tear out and rebuild in as little as four years.
