DNS visited the campus of Miller-Motte College in Chattanooga on December 16th for their career fair. Pictured are two of our employees, Bryant Wilson and Adam Pritchett, who are recent graduates of Miller Motte College 's Electrical Technician Diploma program, and Jason Caywood. Jason is the co-owner of DNS Electric and is the Lead Electrical Instructor at Miller-Motte College.

We enjoyed meeting up with some current and former students. While we are not currently hiring for our company, we are looking to grow our business in 2026. With this goal in mind, we wanted to see who was interested in the career fair and encourage them to send a resume so we are ready to reach out when we have the capacity.

We will be back in January 2026 for another Career Fair at Miller-Motte College. Happy New Year from DNS Electric! We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable New Year's Eve.

This month, we are offering $99 residential service calls. This includes standard light fixture installations, ceiling fan installations, and even bath fan replacements (price does not include the new bath fan.) This price is good up to 25 miles from Exit 25 in Cleveland, TN. Light fixture installations for ceilings higher than 12ft or for chandeliers will cost extra depending on circumstances.

We also have a new phone number that may look familiar to many of you in Cleveland, TN. You can text or call us at (423) 284-6932. This number belonged to Sparky's Electric for a number of years. Our friend and mentor, Randy Schneck, gave us this number so that we could continue to offer his high level of service to everyone who has relied on him. Randy is currently taking time to focus on being a Grandpa. We greatly appreciate this opportunity and look forward to honoring his commitment to high quality electrical work and superb customer service.

I came across this device on a recent service call. The tenant complained of a burning smell when running their wall air conditioner. Poor splicing and a loose connection resulted in device failure.

I shared this to encourage everyone to consider the health of their devices and circuits. With temperatures beginning to lower, we are nearing the time of year when people begin to utilize space heating equipment. NEVER plug space heaters into power strips or extension cords. If you begin to notice a discoloration around a device like this, I recommend having a licensed electrician check to make sure your device is healthy.

If your home is older, or you regularly plug in large-draw appliances like window air conditioners or space heaters, you may want to consider a whole-house device refresh. The same goes for commercial properties. Many offices have multiple employees who use small space heating equipment at desks and cubicles. Ensuring device health and adequate capacity on existing circuits is a recipe for avoiding unplanned down time and lost productivity due to electrical failures.
