Fuel charge – Adding about $30/month (for typical 1,000 kWh usage) through June 2026
Rate increase #1 – Added ~$11/month starting in 2026
Rate increase #2 – Another ~$2/month starting January 2027

I recently followed a homeowner story that stopped me in my tracks.

Gone 8–10 hours a day.

🌞 Thinking About Going Solar? Read This First.

After years in roofing and solar, here are the biggest lessons I’ve learned helping homeowners avoid expensive surprises:

🏠 If your roof is older, replace it before solar.
Removing and reinstalling panels later can be costly — and sometimes complicated.

🔧 Use one reputable company for both roof + solar when possible.
That way there’s no finger-pointing if something leaks or fails.

🕶️ Make sure your system is designed with real shade analysis (like LIDAR).
Tree shading matters — a lot.

🔋 Batteries are great for backup…but not always necessary.
If you rarely lose power, the ROI may not pencil out.

🌡️ Energy efficiency first.
Insulation and sealing can reduce your usage — meaning a smaller solar system.

📅 Plan to stay in the home 7+ years.
Solar is a long-term financial play — not a quick flip feature.

🐿️ If you have squirrels, raccoons, or pigeons…get critter guards.
Trust me on this one.

💵 Know your financing.
Some loans are great. Some are…not. Always look at the total paid over time.
