Supporting your dahlia plants is key to preventing them from toppling over and ensuring nice straight stems. There are many ways this can be done but I like to use the corral method, as seen in my video. I will add another layer or two as the plants get taller and taller! If there’s one garden tool I’d recommend, it would be this! A stirrup hoe. I use this mini one and also a larger one for easy w**ding between plants. Of course it can only be used in beds I don’t have w**d fabric down and the spacing is wide enough, but it sure makes the job much easier 🌱

We are two months away from our first ever on-farm event—you definitely won’t want to miss it! Join us for a bouquet making & permanent jewelry workshop. We will create bouquets using fresh cut flowers right from our farm. Emily with .boutique.decorah will be here with permanent jewelry as well as her clothing trailer!

I often struggle with what to post about this time of year as there is a such a gap between our spring and summer flowers. Days and evenings consist of planting, w**ding, netting, and fertilizing. Although flowers aren’t blooming yet, there is always something to do!

Pinch your flowers now for more blooms later 🌼 Pinching, or removing a set of leaves, signals the plant to direct its energy into creating side shoots, which means a larger plant with many more flowers!
