If you're shooting for the lowest price, I'm not your guy.

Got a referral this week and set the appointment — but only after a straight conversation. You don't hire Ken Walker Builders because we're the cheapest. You hire us because you want trained professionals and work done right, to the highest standard.

She said that's exactly what she wanted. Appointment set.

Out in Pinellas County on a high-end, 2-story deck rebuild. 🌴

This isn't a cosmetic facelift, we're rebuilding the system the right way. Design, permitting, structural, and finish details, all coordinated to stand up to Florida's coast.

The goal: an outdoor space that looks incredible and performs for the long haul against sun, salt, and moisture.

A Clearwater Beach home that flooded kept in the family for generations.

The owners didn't want to elevate it. They love it just the way it is. So we got the permits and we're repairing it the right way and giving it the royal treatment.
Stay tuned. 🌊

"Should be pretty straightforward."
Famous last words on an older Florida home. 😅

We were renovating a bathroom, moving a wall, opening up the layout. Then we pulled the drywall off the block and found serious damage someone had "fixed" years ago by jamming wood in where missing block should've been. A total disaster, hidden behind the wall.

Here's the part that matters: we told our client exactly what we found, and we fixed it the right way. Yes, it meant a change order. But the alternative — covering it up like the last guy did — isn't something we'll ever do.

You never know what's behind the walls. You should always know who's standing behind the work.

Not everyone should be working on your home.

You want a licensed crew. People who show up, take pride in the details, and treat your house like it's their own.

That's who we are.

We're carpenters first — so the work that most people never notice? That's the part we obsess over.

Our customer is the homeowner who only wants it done once. Done right. By a name they can trust.

If that's you, let's talk.

A quick walk through one of our new builds in St. Pete. 🏡

Paint's on, floors are down, cabinets are set, and the bathrooms are nearly there. It's that stage where a house really starts to feel like a home.

There's nothing like watching all the pieces come together — and we can't wait to hand this one over.

More updates coming soon.

Progress check. 👀

Wide-plank hardwood is down and finished, and we're opening up the floor plan to let this whole space breathe — interior and exterior remodel, coming together one phase at a time.

The temporary supports you see? That's us doing the structural work right so the open layout is solid for the long haul.

Can't wait to show you the finish.

See that green tint? That's a borate wood treatment going onto the framing before the walls get closed in.

It's a protective shield against termites, wood-destroying insects, rot, and mold — sprayed across the studs and framing while everything's still open. The color is just a tracking dye so our crew can see exactly what's been covered.

You'll never see this once the drywall goes up. But it's the kind of step that protects your home for decades — and the kind of thing we don't skip.

Built right starts behind the walls.

We opened a wall on a bathroom remodel and found this: someone hit the exterior block wall with a vehicle years ago, and instead of replacing the block or filling it with mortar, they jammed in a few two-by-fours and covered it up.

Here's the truth about why that happens — and why the lowest bid costs you the most.

When a contractor isn't equipped to handle what's behind the wall, they hide it and move on. We don't. When you find structural damage, you're required to fix it — it's the law, it's code, and it's the only right way to do it.

So be careful with the lowest bid. You'll often pay three times as much in the end, because the crew who does it right the first time saves you from the one who hacks it up.
