This old Orangeburg sewer pipe is made of compressed tar paper. Over time, water makes the layers peel apart and the dirt crushes it flat like a paper straw.

When a pipe collapses like this, snaking or cleaning it won't work, it will only tear it up more. The only real fix is replacing the pipe completely before dirty water backs up into your home. Call a pro to check your lines!

1. Water doesn't run on a 9-to-5 schedule, which means neither do we. When a main line breaks or a customer's basement is taking on water, "clocking out" isn't an option until the job is done right.
2. Every plumber knows the lie of "it just needs a quick turn of the wrench." Once you open up a wall or break an old rusty seal, you're locked in for the long haul.
3. Late nights, cramped crawlspaces, and missed dinners are just part of the trade. The long hours aren't easy, but keeping the water running for an entire neighborhood makes the grind worth it.
