Custom Paver Patio and Fire Pit in Holly Springs, NC --

This Holly Springs backyard was transformed with a custom paver patio using Techo-Bloc EVA pavers in Champlain Grey, finished with Villagio borders in Onyx Black for added contrast and definition.

A curved seating wall provides extra room for guests, while the Breeo smokeless fire pit creates a comfortable gathering place for evenings with family and friends. The combination of clean lines, contrasting colors, and practical features gives the homeowners an outdoor space built for both relaxing and entertaining.

Natural Stone Patio Upgrade in Apex, NC --

For this Apex backyard, we removed the old patio and rebuilt it in the same kidney-shaped design using Pennsylvania full-color flagstone. Keeping the original shape allowed the new patio to fit naturally into the existing landscape, while the upgraded natural stone gave the space a completely refreshed look.

The mix of grays, tans, and warm earth tones makes every piece unique and gives the finished patio the character you only get from real stone.

Garden Wall and Landscape Lighting in Clayton, NC --

This Clayton front yard was updated with a custom garden wall built using Techo-Bloc Mini-Creta in Champlain Gray. We raised and defined both planting beds, then added low-voltage landscape lighting to help the home and landscaping stand out after dark.

The curved wall creates better planting space around the existing tree and gives the entire front yard a cleaner, more finished appearance. Projects like this can make a major difference in curb appeal without completely reworking the property.

Complete Poolside Hardscape Transformation in Clayton, NC --

This was a major outdoor-living project in Clayton. The only part we did not install was the swimming pool itself.

Harvell Landscaping completed the Techo-Bloc Blu 60 Smooth paver pool deck in Champlain Gray, pool coping, retaining wall, natural stone steps, grading, sod, low-voltage lighting, and a custom three-spillway water feature. Every part was designed to work together, manage the changing grade, and create a finished pool area with plenty of room for relaxing and entertaining.

Projects like this show how much more goes into a pool installation than the pool alone. The surrounding hardscape, drainage, elevations, lighting, walls, steps, and landscaping are what turn it into a complete backyard.

Natural Stone Pool Retaining Wall, Trex Deck & Drainage in Clayton, NC --

This Clayton backyard needed more than just a pool deck. We built a custom natural stone retaining wall with integrated stone steps to handle the grade change and define the pool area, then added a Trex deck to create more usable space around the swimming pool.

Under the deck, we installed a drainage system designed to collect and carry water to the other side of the property, helping control runoff and keep water from becoming a problem around the pool area.

Once the pool construction was complete, we returned to install new sod and finish tying the entire backyard together.

Natural Stacked Stone Wall in Raleigh, NC --

This Raleigh project features a custom natural stacked stone wall built to work with the existing slope and mature trees. We incorporated larger boulders randomly throughout the wall to break up the pattern and give the stonework a more natural, less manufactured appearance.

The curved layout helps the wall follow the landscape while creating a defined planting area around the trees. Using natural stone and varying the size and shape of the pieces gives the finished wall character that blends into the property instead of looking overly uniform.

Harvell Landscaping’s Employee of the Month goes to Happy once again.

To be fair, she’s actually pretty good at digging. Laying pavers and building retaining walls? Not so much. Happy’s real job is senior truck supervisor, and executive moral booster while we build patios, walls, fireplaces, and outdoor living spaces throughout Clayton, Raleigh, Wake County, Johnston County, and the surrounding Triangle.

Retaining wall project completed in Clayton, NC!
This backyard had a sloped hillside that wasn't doing much for the space. We installed this segmental retaining wall to reshape the grade, create a more defined and plantable landscape area, and give the backyard a clean, finished look.
The curved design follows the natural shape of the yard and turns what was once just a slope into a feature of the landscape.

Natural Stone Patio & Walkway in Selma, NC --

This Selma project features a custom natural stone patio and walkway built with Tennessee full-color flagstone. The stone brings a natural mix of warm earth tones, grays, and darker accents, while the irregular pattern gives the patio a one-of-a-kind look.

We finished the joints with black Nitro grout, which adds contrast and helps each piece of natural stone stand out. The result is a durable, distinctive patio and walkway that feels more handcrafted than a typical manufactured surface.

Custom Dimensional Flagstone Patio in Clayton, NC --

This Clayton backyard got a major upgrade with a custom dimensional flagstone patio that gave the homeowners more usable outdoor space without starting completely from scratch. We overlaid the existing concrete with patterned flagstone, then extended the patio farther into the yard to create a larger area for grilling, relaxing, and entertaining.

To finish the space, we built two custom stone planters along the patio edges and added stepping stones to help tie the patio into the surrounding landscape. The matching stonework gives the entire backyard a more finished, intentional look.
