PRO-TIP.
Testing for oil based paints is as simple as getting a rag and applying acetone to a small section. If it removes the paint it is latex, if it doesn’t it’s oil. In this room all the millwork has latex over oil so we now have to remove all the latex paint, scuff sand, apply BIN shellac, sand again and apply 2 finish coats. A costly mistake for the homeowner.
