Nobody tells you this part when you're looking into custom drawers.

A lot of pull-out systems look great on day one. A year later, the shelf's sagging and it's not gliding the way it used to. It comes down to what's actually inside the wood, and there are really only three options: particleboard (soaks up moisture, can release formaldehyde), plywood (chips at the edges, doesn't join cleanly), or half-inch solid wood, which is what we build every drawer with.

Plenty of drawers look great. Fewer are actually built to last.
