Beyond the Hardhat Spotlight: Grace Brethel!

Current Role: MEP Assistant Superintendent

Q: In 3 words, how would you describe working at Turner?

A: Challenging, Rewarding, Lively

Q: What is the best advice you can give someone who is just starting at Turner?

A: Say “yes” when you can and maintain connections! Some of my favorite moments at Turner have been jobsite opportunities and industry events where I was able to connect with other Turner employees and trade partners. Getting out of your comfort zone and practicing networking will give you the opportunity to make connections you can leverage in the future. There will be a time on a future project when you and your project team are struggling with an issue and knowing who go to can help alleviate stress and time finding a solution. Do not hesitate to reach out for help, the connections I’ve made have helped me immensely in my personal and professional life and maintaining them is key.

We’re proud to launch the 5th annual Construction Business Accelerator (CBA) Program in partnership with the University of Kentucky. This milestone cohort brings together 20 local construction-related businesses and five UK students for a 12-week program focused on strengthening skills, building capacity, and driving long-term success in the industry.

From safety and estimating to scheduling and bid preparation, participants will gain hands-on experience and real-world construction insight, culminating in a mock bid project reviewed by industry leaders.

We’re excited to continue growing this program’s impact and supporting the next wave of construction businesses and talent.

Happy Women in Construction Week and Women’s History Month!

This year’s national theme, Level Up. Build Strong., challenges us to keep raising the bar. Women are playing an increasingly impactful role in shaping skylines, leading complex projects, and building communities that last for generations. Over the past decade, the number of women in construction has grown by nearly 45%, a powerful sign of progress across our industry.

Across our teams and projects, women are leading, problem-solving, strengthening partnerships, and driving progress every day. Here’s to continuing to build strong, and create opportunity for the next generation.

Beyond the Hardhat Spotlight: Rob Hudepohl!

Current Role: Project Manager at Good Samaritan Hospital

Q: In 3 words, how would you describe working at Turner?
A: Collaborative, Challenging, Rewarding

Q: How has your career grown since working at Turner?
A: Working for Turner has provided me with opportunities to learn from some of the best managers in the industry and be part of some amazing projects. The technical side of how to build will come with time, but the biggest career growth has been on the personal side. Understanding how to deal with challenges each day, how to best communicate my thoughts, and building relationships is what a leader needs know. I’ve grown to learn Turner is the industry leader, we don’t have the privilege to blame others, if there is an issue, WE need to resolve it

Q: What is the best advice you can give someone who is just starting at Turner?
A: One, relationships and communication are key to success. Build relationships early and always continue to develop your communication skills. Two, we are one big Turner Family, don’t think someone knows the answer to everything, if you have questions/concerns/issues you should reach out.

Q: There are now 25 hours in a day, how do you spend your extra hour?
A: I would spend that hour with family or friend
