PART 3: THE FINAL TRANSFORMATION.

With the wall built and the hillside secured, it was time to finish what we started.

This project tested us. Shifting sand that wouldn't stay put. Trees that had to come out before we could even shape the slope. Engineering challenges that meant slowing down instead of rushing through. We brought in engineers to make sure every decision was right, and we didn't cut a single corner — even when it would've been faster.

This is the part people don't see in the "before and after" photos. It's not just moving dirt and stacking block, it's problem-solving in real time on a hillside that fought us every step of the way.

The result: a completely reshaped hillside, finished with a privacy fence and paver patio that turned an unusable slope into one of the best parts of this property.

THE GEO GRID DIFFERENCE.

Most people never think about what’s holding a retaining wall up. They just see the blocks.

Geo grid is the reinforcement layer buried behind the wall, tying each course of block back into the soil. Without it, a wall is only as strong as the weight of the blocks stacked on top of each other. With it, the wall and the soil behind it work as one system.

This matters most on taller walls, walls holding back slopes, or anywhere there’s added load like a driveway, patio, or structure sitting above. Skip the grid and you’re relying on gravity alone. That’s how walls lean, bulge, or fail years down the road.

We spec grid on every wall that calls for it, at the depth and spacing the engineering requires. Not because it’s the easy way, but because it’s the right way.

THE 3D DESIGN PROCESS.

Before a single block goes in the ground, we build it in 3D first.

You get to see exactly what your wall, your yard, your new usable space is going to look like before we ever break ground. Grade changes, materials, plant beds, walkways, all of it mapped out so there are no surprises once construction starts.

Then we take it live on site, walking the actual property and comparing it to the design in real time. That's how we make sure what's on the screen matches what's possible on the ground.

This is the part that saves everyone headaches. A homeowner who can see the plan makes better decisions, and a crew building from a clear design builds it right the first time.

Once the excavation was done and the base was solid, it was time to build.

Every course of block gets checked, leveled, and backfilled with proper drainage material behind it. This is the step that separates a wall that lasts decades from one that fails in a few years. Geogrid reinforcement ties the wall back into the hillside, so it's not just sitting there, it's anchored.

This is the part people don't think about when they picture a retaining wall. It's not just stacking block, it's engineering a structure that has to hold back tons of soil, season after season, for the life of the property.

The result: a hillside that's finally stable, and a backyard the homeowner can actually use.

🚜⛰️ MASSIVE EXCAVATION. MAJOR RETAINING WALL PROJECT. 💪🏗️

This is what goes on behind the scenes of a large engineered retaining wall.

This hillside required an enormous excavation through unstable, sandy soil to create the reinforced zone needed to safely support the wall. It’s the kind of project that takes serious equipment, careful planning, and an experienced crew from start to finish.

These aren’t jobs you can simply “figure out” as you go. Large retaining walls demand proper engineering, excavation, drainage, and construction techniques to ensure they’ll stand the test of time.

Our goal with this project is to stabilize the hillside while giving the homeowner something they didn’t have before—a much larger, safer, and more usable backyard.
