🍂 Cooler Weather Doesn't Mean Tick Season Is Over!

We're nearly halfway through October, and while the temperatures are fluctuating across New England, ticks are still active!

In fact, adult blacklegged (deer) ticks are especially active during the fall months and can remain a threat well into late fall and even winter whenever temperatures are above freezing.

Whether you're raking leaves, enjoying time in the backyard, or taking your dog for a walk, it's important to stay vigilant.

✅ Check yourself, your children, and pets after spending time outdoors.
✅ Keep leaves cleared from heavily used areas of your yard.
✅ Don't assume a few chilly mornings mean ticks are gone!

We're extending tick treatments this season to help homeowners maintain protection as long as tick activity continues.

🌱 Aeration & Overseeding FAQ: How should you mow after aeration & overseeding?

A few simple mowing adjustments can help protect those new seedlings and encourage a thicker, healthier lawn:

✂️ Start with a sharp blade. A dull mower blade can tear tender new grass, so now is a great time to sharpen or replace yours.

📅 Wait about 2 weeks before the first mow, if possible, to give new seedlings time to establish.

🌿 Mow high. Raise your mower to its highest recommended setting. Taller grass helps shield young seedlings, encourages deeper roots, and naturally helps suppress w**ds.

📏 Follow the 1/3 rule. Never remove more than one-third of the grass blade in a single mowing. Continue mowing regularly—even if you’re only taking a little off—and allow the new seedlings to gradually reach the height of the established lawn.

A little patience and proper mowing now can make a big difference in how well your newly seeded lawn establishes this fall!
