Trees can add shade and character to your property, but they can also affect your roof in ways that go beyond falling leaves. 🌳🏠
A few things to keep an eye on:
🌿 Rubbing branches: Branches touching the roof can scrape against shingles as they move in the wind, causing wear over time.
🌥️ Heavy shade: Shaded areas may stay damp longer after rain or morning dew.
🌱 Moss growth: Damp, shaded sections of a roof can create favorable conditions for moss, which can hold moisture against the roof surface.
⛈️ Storm damage: Overhanging limbs can break during strong winds or storms and damage shingles, gutters, flashing, or other parts of the roof.
Keeping nearby branches properly trimmed and checking areas that spend a lot of time in the shade can help protect your roof.
