If your plaster is delaminated from the lath, it can be restored. Drill small holes in the bad sections and inject adhesive between the lath and plaster. Use drywall screws with a plaster washer to hold the plaster against the lath until the adhesive cures. Remove the washers and embed 36" wide fibafuse in all purpose joint compound. When dry finish it with a skim coat. Then sand, prime and paint. The finished wall will be solid and hold up for many years. With this method you avoid having the mess of ripping out plaster or hanging drywall. Plaster Repair Repair Restoration
