We utilize the hands-on collaborative atmosphere of the studio to involve our clients, contractors, and engineers in the shaping of spaces that reflect the desires and resources available in each project. These relationships allow us to keep our office intentionally small, so that we retain focus on each detail of every project, regardless of scale. Within each project’s goals, we see the basis for a sustainable design, providing the best solution for our clients and for the environment. We believe in the optimistic nature of design to elevate the quality of life, not through luxury, but through simple clarity of purpose, economy of resources, and inherent beauty of material and context.

Thanks to and Ryan Willmington of for speaking at city council on behalf of the architectural community to help underscore why the Climate and Affordable Buildings Act is NOT gas ban, but rather a focus on ensuring NEW buildings are built with the latest building science to create healthier buildings for ALL Chicagoans, that also help move us to systems that are better for our planet as well. Keep up the good work!

Founded in Chicago in 2006, the Studio is led by award-winning architect Kim Nigro. A licensed architect in Illinois, Missouri, and Michigan, Kim received her training at Kansas State University, Centro Studi Santa Chiara in Italy, University of Illinois Chicago, and at the American Academy in Rome as recipient of the prestigious Burnham Prize Fellowship in Architecture.

Kim has designed projects ranging from pro-bono non-profit office renovations to large condo buildings, but her passion is still in crafting unique homes for her individual clients and their families. Her professional experience makes her a strong leader for the studio and the teams of collaborators we assemble. In addition to heading up the practice, Kim is an active member of the American Institute of Architects and the US Green Building Council, and often volunteers leading career camps for girls to explore careers in architecture. Kim’s certification as a LEED AP Homes accredited professional ensures we are always employing the latest green building technology for our clients.
