🎶 Mold, mold, go away… and never come back. You’re not here to stay! 🎶

Yesterday’s mission: a little emergency intervention in the West Loop. 🛠️

One of our previous clients (and a future client, too!) experienced a pipe leak originating two floors above their home just a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, water has a way of traveling where it absolutely does not belong… and this one brought an unwelcome guest: mold.

With their larger renovation not scheduled until winter 2027, we stepped in to help get things moving in the right direction now.

The game plan? Remove the affected kitchen cabinetry and drywall, open everything up to allow the area to dry, and get professional mold remediation on-site ASAP.

Not exactly the kitchen refresh anyone had on their vision board, but protecting the home and addressing the problem properly comes first. The pretty finishes can wait. 😉

Because at Two Girls and a Hammer, we believe in showing up for our clients—even when the project wasn’t supposed to start for several months.

Water damage? Mold? Unexpected construction chaos? We’ve seen it all. And we know that sometimes, the most important work happens long before the design boards come out. 🖤

A LOVE LETTER TO COLOR, COURAGE & ONE OF OUR FAVORITE PROJECTS. 💙 💚

Some spaces stay with you long after the last detail is finished. This is one of them.

Tucked away in Chicago’s northern suburbs, this spectacular 20’ × 20’ sunroom was designed to be anything but ordinary. We installed heated floors with the proper underlayment, then laid a gorgeous chevron pattern that deserved to be seen. And because more is sometimes absolutely more, an incredible ombré teal subway tile brought another layer of color, depth, and personality to the space.

Rich color. Beautiful geometry. Unexpected combinations. And a design that never once asked for permission to play it safe.

The result? A sunroom with so much personality that we couldn’t bear to cover those beautiful floors with a vintage rug. Some things are simply too good to hide. 😉

At Two Girls and a Hammer, we believe the best spaces aren’t necessarily the safest ones. They’re the ones that reflect the people who live in them, embrace a little individuality, and leave you feeling something.

And this one? We still love every square inch.

To our wonderful clients who trust us to dream a little bigger and bring something unexpected to life, thank you. Creating spaces like this is exactly why we love what we do. 🥂

Now, be honest: Would you go all in on the color, or are you team neutral? 👀

UNPOPULAR OPINION: Expensive doesn’t always mean well-designed…. But sometimes it does… and sometimes you need to learn the HIGH—LOW road map of true amazing design. Custom & well curated with your return on investment being far superior… 🖤🖤🖤

We’ve walked into million-dollar homes that needed a design intervention… and modest spaces that stopped us dead in our tracks.

Because luxury isn’t a price tag.
It isn’t a waterfall island for the sake of having a waterfall island.
And it certainly isn’t putting marble on every available surface and calling it a day. 😉

Real luxury is knowing what to do, what not to do, and when to break the rules.

It’s the floor plan nobody realizes was reconfigured. The stone slab you can’t stop staring at. The lighting that makes an entire room feel different. The details you may never consciously notice—but would absolutely miss if they weren’t there.

That’s the difference between renovating a home and creating something extraordinary.

We’re Rose and Christine. We build, we design, we obsess over the details—and after years in the Chicago renovation world, we have a few opinions. 😏

Agree or disagree? What’s one luxury home trend you’re officially OVER? Tell us in the comments. We’re listening. 👀

Save this for your next renovation. Send it to someone who appreciates good design. And follow Two Girls and a Hammer for Chicago renovations with substance, style, and absolutely no interest in playing it safe.

FROM SCORCHED EARTH TO SOMEONE’S FOREVER HOME. 🖤✨

Some projects are special from day one. This one? It met its future owner when it was still down to the studs, deep in the beautiful chaos of construction.

At The Ritz-Carlton, we’re transforming this 3,300-square-foot residence into a fully renovated home, thoughtfully reworking portions of the floor plan to make it uniquely theirs. Because luxury isn’t simply about beautiful finishes. It’s about creating a home that feels like it was designed for you — because it was.

Right now, it’s dust, decisions, and a whole lot of progress. Soon, it will be home.

To our future homeowner: congratulations! 🥂 We can’t wait to see you cross that closing table, turn the key, and begin your next chapter in a home built around the way you want to live.

3,300 square feet. A fresh vision. A completely new beginning.

Brought to life by Two Girls and a Hammer. 🔨

STRAIGHT LINES. SERIOUSLY GOOD TASTE. 🤍

A little geometry. A lot of luxury.

These bathroom walls feature Asian Statuary White Polished Marble from tilebar, installed in a vertical stacked bond pattern that draws the eye upward and gives the entire space a clean, architectural elegance.

The polished finish brings the movement and natural veining of the marble to life, while the vertical layout delivers that tailored, contemporary look we love. Timeless stone. Modern ex*****on. Zero need to overcomplicate it.

Because the difference between beautiful and exceptional is always in the details.

Chicago, we have a thing for a well-dressed bathroom. ✨

✨ Tile with main-character energy. ✨

We made a little trip to the incredible Waterworks showroom at the iconic themart in Chicago, and let’s just say… subtle was never the assignment. 🤍

Exclusive tile. Elevated finishes. Unapologetic luxury. The kind of material that doesn’t just finish a room — it makes the room.

We’re completely obsessed with what we selected and cannot WAIT to see this beauty installed. Because at Two Girls and a Hammer, we believe the magic is in the details, and sometimes those details deserve their own moment in the spotlight. 💋

Love us some Waterworks. Always a good idea. Never an ordinary finish.

Stay tuned, Chicago. This one is going to be very good. 🖤

✨ From insulation to smooth walls — we’re one step closer to the pretty stuff. ✨

Insulation is in, drywall is up, and we’re officially moving into the next phase. 🙌🏼

Today: taping & mudding.
Tomorrow: primer.
Monday: FLOORS. 🤍

The transformation is taking shape, and every layer behind the finished product matters just as much as the beautiful details you’ll see at the end.

At Two Girls and a Hammer, we believe great design starts with great ex*****on. No shortcuts, just craftsmanship, coordination, and a whole lot of moving parts behind the scenes.

Next stop? Floors down, and the vision keeps coming to life. 🏡✨

Midnight in Chicago. 🌙🥂

There’s something about a beautifully designed bar that makes a room feel instantly more sophisticated—and this one is shaping up to be quite the moment.

Custom cabinetry in a deep, moody midnight blue sets the tone, paired with luminous crystalline quartzite and a custom lighting system beneath the stone to give the entire bar top that subtle, elevated glow.

Then came the details: Canvas + Ivy wallpaper, an Iron Abode glass shelving system, and soon, the finishing touch we’ve been waiting for—Buster + Punch poles, currently en route from New York.

A few more beautifully selected materials are still making their way to the site, because the best interiors are rarely assembled all at once.

For now, we’re enjoying this particular stage—the one where you can finally see the vision taking shape.

Moody. Tailored. A little bit dramatic. Very Chicago.

And when the last detail lands, this bar is going to be worth the wait. 🍸✨

Proof that sometimes a home doesn’t need a full renovation… it just needs a little attitude adjustment. ✨

This beautiful residence at 161 E Chicago Avenue, just off the Magnificent Mile, got the Two Girls and a Hammer treatment — and the transformation is all in the details.

Fresh wallpaper.
Statement lighting.
New paint.
Beautiful furnishings.
A few very intentional changes.

And suddenly, the room has a whole new personality.

Because luxury isn’t always about tearing everything apart. Sometimes it’s about knowing exactly what to keep, what to change, and where to spend the money. 😉

A little facelift. A lot of impact.
And, as always, Chicago style with a little extra polish. 🖤✨
