GP is opening our doors to the public on Saturday, October 17, as part of Chicago Architecture’s Open House Chicago. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., visitors are invited to join guided tours of our office on the top floor of the historic Railway Exchange building at 224 South Michigan Avenue and view recent work.

Open House Chicago is a free public festival offering access to places of architectural, historical and cultural significance throughout the city.

GP’s Patrick Loughran, FAIA, PE, LEED AP, will be speaking at AIA Chicago’s Detail Decathlon on Wednesday, October 14, from 4:30–7:00pm at AIA Chicago (35 East Wacker Drive, Suite 250).

The event will bring together Chicago architects and designers to present and discuss complex construction details, exploring design challenges, code requirements, and technical ex*****on through presentations and an interactive review session.

Goettsch Partners was honored with two awards at AIA Chicago’s annual Designight event, held Thursday, October 1, at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park. GP received a Citation of Merit in the Architecture Large category for Alcove in Nashville, Tennessee, recognizing the 34-story residential tower’s distinctive stacked and shifted forms, integrated amenities, and expansive views.

James & Elizabeth Bramsen Tropical Forests at Brookfield Zoo Chicago received the Lerch Bates People’s Choice Award in the Cultural and Museum category. Designed by GP in collaboration with Brookfield Zoo Chicago and Stantec, the three-acre campus expansion reimagines primate habitat design through immersive rainforest environments, new outdoor habitats, and spaces dedicated to conservation and education.

GP’s Erik Harris, AIA NCARB, will present at Facades+ Denver on Thursday, October 1, the premier conference on high-performance building enclosures. His presentation will explore climate-friendly design and the role of high-performance facades in modern mixed-use development, featuring 1900 Lawrence in downtown Denver.

Ten years ago today, Zurich North America Headquarters opened its doors in Schaumburg, Illinois. Designed to reflect Zurich’s global reach and values of strength and stability, the 783,800-square-foot, LEED Platinum-certified complex is composed of three offset and stacked bars that create spaces for collaboration, connect employees to the surrounding landscape, and provide a distinctive presence along the interstate.

A decade later, the headquarters remains a defining expression of Zurich’s identity and a workplace designed around communication, collaboration and wellness. We are proud to celebrate this milestone with Zurich North America and the project team who helped bring this vision to life.

GP is pleased to share that Expo Place in Shanghai, China, has received a 2026 Gold Award in the Office Building, Comprehensive Commercial Project category as part of the China Real Estate & Design Award (CREDAWARD) program.

Located on the former grounds of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, Expo Place transforms a once-fragmented site into a connected urban district centered around everyday life. Twin office towers, boutique office villas, retail, hotels and public spaces are woven together through pedestrian streets, sunken plazas and multilevel indoor-outdoor connections.

The project’s design also builds on the site’s history through the adaptive reuse of existing below-grade structures and caissons, minimizing waste while establishing a foundation for a new mixed-use destination.

The conversation will explore the role of AI and digital tools in architectural practice, with a focus on practical strategies, project delivery, and lessons learned from implementation.

We are pleased to share that COFCO Qianhai Innovation Center in Shenzhen, China, has been named to the Dezeen Awards 2026 architecture shortlist in the Workplace Project (large) category.

Selected from more than 4,300 entries spanning 91 countries, the project is among 19 architecture projects shortlisted for this year’s awards.

The Dezeen Awards recognize outstanding architecture and design from around the world. We are honored to see COFCO Qianhai Innovation Center included among this year’s shortlisted work.

MGM Shenzhen Prince Bay officially opened its doors last week in Shenzhen, China. The 31-story, 298-key luxury hotel anchors the Prince Bay development with a distinctive architectural presence shaped by its waterfront setting and views toward Shenzhen Bay. We are proud to celebrate the opening of this new addition to Shenzhen’s growing hospitality landscape and to recognize the teams and partners who helped bring the project to life.

GP took to the Chicago River for our annual summer outing, bringing together good food, music, cocktails, and some friendly competition. The afternoon included a cruise aboard Chicago’s First Lady and our annual GP Bags Tournament, making for a memorable day on the water with colleagues.
